Some things only arrive
when you stop trying to hear them.

BARNIR is what I call this music. I'm Barnier Geerling — pianist, composer, producer in Amsterdam — making slow piano music woven with synthesizers, trying to put feelings somewhere they can live.

I started composing at nine, on an Amiga 500. Decades later I'm still doing the same thing — only with better tools, and a clearer sense of what I want it to feel like.

The pieces here were written through a few years of love, loss, and learning to accept what I couldn't hold. Some of them are still hard for me to listen to. Some have become friends.

Somehow, this music has been played millions of times around the world. I still find that unexpected. I'm grateful, in a way that's hard to put in a sentence.
